I started work at 11.30am. After three hours twenty minutes I said to myself: "In three hours 20 minutes, it'll be three hours 20 minutes until I can go home." Now only one hour 24 minutes. Soul-destroyingly tedious.
I just couldn't keep quiet. Life not quite falling apart...just rapid evolution. But emerging from the cocoon is proving difficult. I'm nearly there now, however - a little more confident each day, and I hope a little less sour.
There is, and I agree about The Office. It just seemed like an ordinary day with the sort of displays of co-worker's inhumanity to co-worker that one sees every day. I hate most so-called comedy for the same reason. It is all based on the premise of laughing at other people's pain. I recognise Fawlty Towers as a work of genius but could not bear to watch it.
There was a time when I would write down in 24 hour notation on a piece of paper knocking off time, say 17.30 hours Underneath that I would write the current time say 14.30 hours and deduct from the former, the difference of course being the time left to serve. Sometimes I would think that maybe I was doing this too often and so I would take the time I last did this calculation, 14.30 hours and deduct it from the time of the current calculation say 15.05 hours. Usually I would find that I was. I dont do it these days though because at my age even a trip to the dentist speeds by.

Sorry the sale fell through, it must be beyond frustrating. Hang in there. I hope things settle with W, you must feel like your life is falling apart.
Hi SFS, and thanks for coming back.
